I'm Mats Höglund, founder of q-Wide Consulting AB. More than 20 years of building and quality-assuring complex systems, from railway control and IoT networks to public transport. I lead and coach teams, write a lot of the code myself, and work AI-first every day.

Netmore Group, 2025–2026

IoT testing without the hardware

Challenge
Validating LoRaWAN backend services end to end meant depending on physical devices and gateways.
What I did
Built a device and gateway simulator in Python, plus automated API suites with schema validation, test data seeding and reporting.

The backend can be tested end to end with no physical hardware involved.

Simulation for railway control systems

Challenge
Embedded railway control systems needed realistic, structured message traffic for system-level testing.
What I did
Designed and built interface message generators in Python with Redis and async data handling, and profiled long-running processes.

Repeatable, structured interface traffic for system-level tests, from processes tuned to run stably for long periods.

Own product, q-Wide

Gabbel, from idea to App Store

Challenge
Can one person ship a paid app, with AI at the core of development and close to zero running costs?
What I did
Built it in React Native and Expo, handled App Store review, wrote an App Store Connect stats dashboard and ran the Meta ads.
Outcome
Live on the App Store: 600+ questions, three game modes, fully offline, no servers, no ads, no tracking.

How I work

Same route every time, whether it's a new pipeline or a team that needs to get its release back under control.

    Map the level

    Code, pipelines, tests and release flow as they really are. I read the repo before I have opinions.

    Where you need to be at delivery, compared with today. Written down plainly, risks included.

About Mats

I started in testing and performance engineering, and that's still how I think: if you can't verify it, you haven't built it yet. At CGI I led performance projects for clients like SJ, Volvo Cars and Telia, coordinating with offshore teams in India. Since then I've moved steadily towards hands-on development, building simulators, APIs and pipelines while coaching the teams around me.

Today I work AI-first. It means more gets done, and the experience lies in knowing what to trust, what to check, and how to set a team up so the speed doesn't turn into risk.

I've run q-Wide Consulting AB since 2016, from Kungsbacka just south of Göteborg.
